Gas prices




Gas prices typically rise in the summer due to increased demand due to vacation trips.
The cheapest region in the survey was again the lower Atlantic, where gas was $3.403 a gallon. The Gulf Coast was right behind at $3.466 a gallon. Those who miss paying a lot for gas can go to California, where gas averages $3.802 in the latest survey.


A gallon of regular now sells for $3.508 a gallon, up a penny from $3.494 a gallon in the Energy Information Administration's latest survey. At least it's down 20 cents a gallon from a year ago.
This year, gas prices steadily rose to an average high that almost touched $4 a gallon across the country -- and in many places, exceeded it. Prices then tumbled to $3.356 a gallon on July 2 in the weekly government survey...
