Gas prices typically rise in the summer due to increased demand due to vacation trips.
The cheapest region in the survey was again the lower Atlantic, where gas was $3.403 a gallon. The Gulf Coast was right behind at $3.466 a gallon. Those who miss paying a lot for gas can go to California, where gas averages $3.802 in the latest survey.
A gallon of regular now sells for $3.508 a gallon, up a penny from $3.494 a gallon in the Energy Information Administration's latest survey. At least it's down 20 cents a gallon from a year ago.
