150 German athletes will participate in the Paralympics in London (August 29-September 9). The German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) nominated on Saturday 88 men and 62 women and 20 athletes to less than the previous Summer Paralympics in Beijing in 2008. Germany had won then 14 gold, 25 silver and 20 bronze medals,.
"It had to make hard choices to be made, for we have in Germany has more top athletes than we may end up sending to London," said Karl Quade, of the German team will head up again as Chef de Mission: "However, we have to the best knowledge and belief and I am determined that we send a strong team to the Paralympic Games. "
Among the athletes is a 97-strong functional team consisting of coaches, doctors, escort runners and coaches. Overall, London 4200 athletes from 160 nations are expected to identify the 20 sports in 503 decisions and their medal winners. The DBS is represented in 15 sports.
